Surprisingly, laminate countertops get sticky more often than you'd think. So much traffic passes over them that it's tough to keep them spotless. If you've got a sticky countertop, try some of these tips. That way, they'll stay as good as new for a long time. 

Most of the time, you won't need to purchase anything new to clean your countertops. To get rid of the stickiness, use a vinegar solution to spray them down. Combine 1 part white vinegar with 3 parts water, and put that into a spray bottle. 

Spray a few spritzes onto the countertops, and let them sit for about 5 minutes. Afterward, you can wipe them down using a microfiber cloth. Usually, that's all you need to keep them clean. 

After you've wiped up the cleaning formula, spray the counters with some water. Using a fresh cloth, clean that up as well. Wiping off the water should make your countertops shine. 

Shiny countertops always look the best. So, if yours have started to look a little dull, you might want to try this. Add a little bit of dish soap to your vinegar solution. Generally, we'd recommend adding about 1 tablespoon to your formula. Then, using the same method from above, clean your counters. 

The dish soap tends to make them shinier than ever. Also, don't forget to use a clean rag. Wiping down your counters with a dirty rag could make things worse. Debris could be left behind, and your counters would still be dirty. 

For an even better effect, let the cleaning solution soak for a little while. Don't let the solution dry, though. Otherwise, you'll be left with a ton of unsightly streaks. 

Have you ever cleaned laminate flooring in the past? If so, you can use the same techniques when it comes to your counters. Most of the time, you can even use the same cleaning solutions. When there is some stickiness, a solvent might be necessary. 

Sometimes, a little adhesive is left on top of the counters when they're first installed. Getting rid of that might seem like a challenge, but it's actually pretty simple. A Formica solvent ought to cut right through it. 

Then, you can wipe them down using your usual cleaning supplies. Remember to use fresh supplies whenever you clean the counters. Dirty rags might leave scratches. 

Polishing a Formica countertop isn't all that difficult. First, you'll want to create a cleaning solution. Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Add a little surfactant to that solution to take things up a notch. 

Once you've made the solution, spray everything down with it. Don't wipe it all up right away. You'll want to leave it there for an hour or so. After the solution has had time to soak, clean it up with a soft microfiber towel. By doing this, your countertops should sparkle brilliantly. 

From time to time, laminate countertops could get a stain. Usually, a little baking soda should be more than a match for this problem. Add about a tablespoon of baking soda to a small bowl. Then, mix in a little bit of water while stirring the bowel. 

You should end up with a paste that feels kind of like sand. Take that paste, and rub it into the stain. Allow it to soak for about 20 minutes. Then, you can remove it. If it had enough time to soak, any stains should be gone. 

Properly maintaining Formica countertops is essential if you'd like them to look their best. Fortunately, keeping them clean is relatively straightforward. Follow the steps listed above, and you'll be shocked at how great everything looks.
